Do you know of any good charts, excel formats or database or software that I could see a model of that helps someone keep track of prospective, pending and existing grants (deadlines, etc)?Â

I would recommend that you look at the range of products available to get an idea of your options - even though some my be financially too costy for you right now. Raiser’s Edge is the industry leader in size and functionality and is a good starting point. There is also a very specifically customized system that was created by Bill Sturdivant with the Institute on Charitable Giving in Chicago that goes with his Moves Management program. I have also heard that DonorPerfect does good things. It’s a tough task to manage with excel because it is not a relational data system - this means bridging connectivity between records and units.
