Let’s Continue the Conversation…

Yesterday, CNM hosted the first of our Lunch & Learn series. ”My Generation-Generational differences and strategies for working together,” proved to be a popular topic, as evident from the turn-out. Kim Carpenter Drake facilitated the discussion, and has created a post about the topic on her blog. Here are her overall lessons from the day:

Our lessons from today’s conversation seemed clear and perhaps obvious in retrospect – but not so easy to implement. First, be flexible. Realize that your clients, donors and consumers may not all see things from your perspective. Two, realize that you cannot dramatically change the population. It will be they who change us.

So, now let’s continue the conversation. What did you take away from the discussion? What are your ideas on how to utilize the different generations that make up your staff, board and volunteers? How have you recruited members of different generations to get involved with your organization? Feel free to post any questions that you were not able to get answered during the lunch hour. Start the discussion, who knows what you will learn!
