Teaching Fellows applications due April 16

Are you interested in becoming a teacher to high-need students in the Nashville area? Then consider applying for the Nashville Teaching Fellows program. Applications are due April 16.

Nashville Teaching Fellows is a highly selective program that trains accomplished professionals and recent college graduates to become high-impact teachers in schools serving high-need students throughout the Metro Nashville area. As a Fellow, you will begin making a difference for students right away, joining a network of dynamic Nashville teachers working to end a legacy of educational inequality.

The need is real. Only 12% of Nashville’s African-American high schoolers score “advanced” in math, as compared to 26% of white students. Only 77% of Hispanic students in Nashville graduate high school, compared to an overall 86% graduation rate. The average ACT score for Nashville’s students is 19–several points below the basic minimum requirements for Tennessee’s state universities.  Be instrumental in changing these statistics. Nashville students need a brighter future. Start your career as an educator by applying to Nashville Teaching Fellows.

There is no one profile of an ideal candidate, but Nashville Teaching Fellows is highly selective because every student deserves outstanding teachers. Fellows may be experienced professionals who are looking to make a career change, or they may be fresh out of college and ready to put their academic expertise to work for Nashville school children. This program values individuals of diverse backgrounds who can bring their unique perspectives and experiences into the classroom to substantially improve student achievement. Overall, we seek candidates who believe that all students can succeed in school and who are ready to do whatever it takes to achieve that goal.
